Sri Welaratna came across the Fourier analyzer in 1970 while doing research at the University of Bradford in England and went to work for Hewlett-Packard, first in Europe and then at Santa Clara. He was involved in applications engineering, marketing and software development at HP. Following a career as an independent consultant he joined with Dave Snyder to form Data Physics in 1984.
