SubTrack – Sonar Target Systems

SubTrack provides a versatile means of projecting simulated target spectra, at sea, for operation with all types of passive sonar and passive ranging systems. SubTrack also produces pulses for exercising intercept sonars and includes an echo repeat sub system for operation with active sonars.

SubTrack is available in the following configurations:

Towable from tugs, auxiliaries, COOP.
Ship hull mounted systems.
Submarine hull mounted.
Sea bed installation.
Free ranging systems with integral GPS.

SubTrack systems have the following applications:

Full command team training for ships, submarines, helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft.

Training for sonar operators in the art of detection and classification of modern submarine targets in a realistic environment.

Performance proving for in-service sonars, design proving for new development sonars.
High power calibration systems.

Acoustic range calibration, research and oceanographic applications.

SubTrack also includes a high power, wide band variant with a very low frequency capability (4Hz) for use in influence minesweeping applications. The VLF projector has been designed for long term operation and to survive close-in explosive shock.

SubTrack is available as a complete turnkey package with handling equipment, winch, towing cables and an air conditioned cabin to house the electronic system and the operator
GW provide installation assistance, trials support and through life service.

SubTrack systems may be specified to operate from frequencies as low as 4Hz to frequencies in excess of 100KHz. A range of tow fish are available to meet customer applications. SubTrack generates multiple narrow band lines, broadband noise, amplitude and frequency modulation, pulses, transients and also an echo repeat/transponder function.
