Multishaker Single Axis Vibration Testing on Tuesday, September 17, 2013


Vibration qualification of large test articles like satellites requires very high force levels. This need is typically met with a very large electrodynamic shaker that has the force capability required to excite a large test article to the specified acceleration levels. In some cases, the force required cannot be met with a single shaker and multiple shakers must be used to provide the required force.

The use of multiple shakers also has other advantages over a single large shaker. A single large shaker is limited in frequency bandwidth due to the size of the armature. A dual shaker configuration can produce higher force with higher frequency bandwidth than a similarly sized single shaker. The dual shaker configuration can also be separated to be used as two individual shakers testing smaller articles to even higher frequency bandwidths.

Multi shaker single axis testing requires a vibration controller that is capable of compensating for the dynamic response of the fixture and test article. This seminar will illustrate how the Data Physics SignalStar Matrix multishaker controller continuously adapts to the dynamics of the system under test, compensating the cross-coupled dynamic responses to the multiple inputs simultaneously, and ensures high control accuracy.
