Kalyan Vitta, Senior Applications Engineer, will present Order Tracking Techniques. Spectrum analysis is a useful tool in understanding the information content of rotating machinery. When the machine is operating at a constant speed, a power spectrum can be used to analyze vibrations associated with the shaft running speed and its harmonics (orders). As the machine speed varies such as in a machine run-up or coast-down, the mechanical characteristics of the rotating machinery at different speeds overlap to smear the vibration information. As the spectral content is spread across different frequencies, it is difficult to correlate and identify the vibration peaks to the specific rotating elements causing the problem.

In this web seminar, we will discuss the different types of Order Analysis techniques available in SignalCalc analyzers and how each method provides the capability to measure and analyze rotating machine run-up and coast-down vibrations for identification of structural resonances as well as vibration phenomena related to the orders of rotation.

Kalyan Vitta has a background in Modal Analysis, Rotating Machinery Diagnostics and Closed Loop Vibration control. He has 15 years of experience and a Master’s degree in Modal Analysis from the University of Cincinnati.
