Electro-Mechanical / Instrument Assembly Technician

Location: San Jose, CA

Data Physics, a manufacturer of Test and Measurement solutions for Noise and Vibration applications, has a challenging manufacturing position for an assembly technician with opportunity for growth. The candidate will work closely with a team of marketing, software, and hardware engineers to design and produce the best DSP based signal processing systems in the world. The ideal candidate will perform complex electrical-mechanical assembly under minimum amount of supervision.

Responsibilities:
• Mechanical and electrical assembly of instrumentation.
• Perform initial component testing with technical checklists.
• Assist with engineering prototype projects with assembly and documentation support.
• Be involved with troubleshooting, working with other team members on design refinements and improvements.
• Document the testing processes, revisions and results of incremental changes to the production process.
• Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship in performance of all duties.

Requirements:
• Experience as a hands-on technician using a structured approach to problem solving, testing, troubleshooting and evaluation of materials and machinery.
• Experience in soldering, use of electronic multimeter and general hand tools
• Conversant with reading and interpreting schematics, mechanical and assembly drawings.
• General computer skills, Microsoft Office. Knowledge of NetSuite a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team dynamic.

Education/Experience:
• Positions requires a minimum of Technical AS Degree (Associates)
• 3-5 years experience working on complex electrical-mechanical assembly.

Software Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Data Physics, a manufacturer of Test and Measurement solutions for Noise and Vibration applications, has a challenging product development position for a software engineer with opportunity for growth. The candidate will work closely with a team of marketing, software, and hardware engineers to design and produce the best DSP based signal processing systems in the world. The ideal candidate will create various software systems with an emphasis on practical design, tested solutions, and other agile software development practices.

Responsibilities:
• Work closely with marketing and software team to define system requirements
• Design and implement Microsoft Windows applications and user interfaces using C#, C++ and .NET
• Produce design documents for created systems
• Follow modern software development principles to objectively test and validate code
• Maintain existing products

Requirements:
• Significant experience with Windows application and user interface development using C#, C++ and .NET
• Thorough understanding of modern software development and object oriented programming
• Experience with network programming, parallel processing techniques, client/server architecture, and embedded systems
• Effective communication skills and technical writing ability

Service Technician

Location: Corona, CA

Data Physics has a position open for a field service technician with significant opportunity for growth. The candidate will work closely with a team of other service technicians, sales managers and manufacturing technicians to service and manufacture shakers for testing applications.

Responsibilities:
• Work on electrodynamic shakers powered by amplifiers ranging from 1 KVA to 300 KVA.
• Troubleshoot amplifiers and power modules from the design schematics
• Requires using voltmeters and oscilloscopes on the electrical power systems, modules, and transformers
• Required to test and troubleshoot returned amplifier components and modules
• Answer customer inquiries or scheduling requirements through e-mail or by phone
• Training of the customer at the job site to use the equipment

Requirements:
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Must be willing to travel in the U.S. on a regular basis
• Excellent work ethic and integrity. Flexibility to work in a small, motivated team
• Assist customers via phone/e-mail in troubleshooting systems while on the road
• Ability to improvise and design simple lab tests to understand complex system interactions

Regional Sales Engineer

Location: South-East, Central, West

Responsibilities:
As a Regional Sales Engineer you are responsible for sales and customer satisfaction of the full range of Data Physics Products in the assigned region. Your role includes identifying and qualifying sales opportunities, learning the customer’s business, creating leads through cold calling, networking etc. and demonstrating products as required.

You will manage customer contact information and activity through the Data Physics CRM system to assure a continuing high level of customer satisfaction. You will also provide technical guidance and assistance to external sales channels such as Sales Representatives in the assigned region and collect and deliver feedback to Product Marketing and Engineering on competitive offerings and changing customer demands.
You will perform sales forecasting, sales planning and other related sales administrative tasks, and your goal is to consistently achieve and exceed quarterly and annual quotas for the region. You will report to the Regional Business Manager.

Requirements:
You are expected to have sufficient technical background to develop an understanding of the full product range and the technology of the products, so you can demonstrate and apply the products to different customer applications. A good understanding of noise and vibration is required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is customer oriented with good communication and presentation skills.

Education/Experience:
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, and has at least 2 years experience after graduation. You may have worked as an Application Engineer, and be looking for an opportunity to expand into sales.

Applications Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Responsibilities:
As an Applications Engineer you will work in a team to offer superb technical support and assistance to Data Physics customers. The product range will include dynamic signal analyzers, vibration controllers and shakers. You will be responsible for pre and post sales support for your region. Your job will include customer interaction, trouble shooting, test set up and verification, demonstrations, training, both web based and in class room settings, contributing to a FAQ data base and technical writing of manuals and application notes etc.

You will manage customer contact information and activity through Data Physics CRM system to assure a continuing high level of customer satisfaction. You will be collaborating closely with Sales and Engineering to deliver customer feedback to increase product quality and customer satisfaction.

Electrical Engineer

Data Physics has a challenging product development position for an electrical engineer with opportunity for growth. The candidate will work closely with a team of hardware, firmware, software and manufacturing engineers to design and produce the best DSP based signal processing systems in the world. The ideal candidate will perform digital circuit design and layout involving high-speed board level design with system level appreciation.

Responsibilities:
• Work closely with hardware/software/firmware team to define system level requirements
• Digital circuit design with FPGAs/CPLDs, DSPs, Microprocessors/Cores, A/D & D/As
• Schematic capture/netlist generation and board layout for signal processing tasks
• Component selection and Bill of material generation
• Testing and support of product through production
• Interface with manufacturing/vendors to ensure smooth transition to production
• Support and sustaining responsibilities

Requirements:
• Extensive PCB design experience preferred. Knowledge of PCB layout issues including parasitics, leakage and signal integrity

The candidate will work closely with a team of other development engineers, designers and manufacturing engineers to design and manufacture shakers for testing applications. The ideal candidate will perform electromagnetic, thermal and structural design and analysis to develop world-class solutions to customer needs/requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Work closely with applications/marketing to define system level requirements
• Structural/Thermal Design and analysis of key shaker components
• Creation of drawings, Bill of material generation, Component selection as needed
• Vendor selection/Development
• Testing and support of product through production
• Interface with manufacturing/vendors to ensure smooth transition to production

Requirements:
• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Extensive structural and thermal engineering design/analysis experience required
• Understanding of electromagnetic design/analysis a plus
• Experience with SolidWorks required
• Ability to improvise and design simple lab tests to understand complex system interactions
• Thorough understanding of solid mechanics (statics and dynamics) and thermal engineering
