Shaker Table Accessories

A Complete Range of Accessories and Design Services for Slip Tables, Fixtures, Head Expanders, Monobases, and More

When designing head expanders or fixtures 3D Models are produced using the complete moving system to ensure that all resonances that might be excited are investigated. At least 20 mode types are usually considered. Head expanders are available as round or square shapes, made from cast magnesium or aluminum or as weldments, depending on the required size, operating frequency and budget.

Slip tables can be supplied in monobases or in stand-alone structures for mating with any existing shaker. The slip table assembly consists of an aluminum moat structure, a magnesium slip plate, a precision ground granite block and (usually) a set of guidance bearings. The aluminum moat acts as an oil reservoir, where oil flows from the slip plate and guidance assembly. The granite slip surface is enclosed within this structure and is ground and lapped to a tool room grade B finish to provide minimum friction during vibration testing. Data Physics Corporation manufactures a variety of head expanders, fixtures, and slip tables.

Slip Table Range

Standard sizes range from 12 x 12 in (304.8 x 304.8 mm) to 60 x 60 in (1524 x 1524 mm). T-Film bearing table shown.

The Guided Oil Film Table (GOFT) The most cost-effective solution, providing a precision ground granite table, with a small guide element on the end of the slip plate. All restraint is provided by the oil film between the granite and slip plate. Oil pressure is provided by a small pulsating type pump.
Guided Oil Film Table (GOFT)
The Low Pressure Journal Bearing Table (LB) One step up in performance from the GOFT table. The same pulsating type oil pump is used, as well as a precision ground granite. Added restraint and guidance is added with the addition of (typically 2) linear bearings that are fed oil as well for extending life and reducing friction.
Low Pressure Journal Bearing Table (LB)
The High Pressure Journal Bearing Table (HB) True hydrostatic journal bearings. The table is also guided on a precision ground granite table with an oil film, but the Journal Bearings are pressurized to 3000 psi and provide 8,500 lbs (3850 kg) static load capacity per bearing.
High Pressure Journal Bearing Table (HB)
The T-Film Bearing Tables (TB) Our most advanced slip table system. Bearings are provided by our partner company, Team Corporation. The modular bearings afford flexible configuration plus high load capacity at 6,500 lbs (2950 kg) per bearing, and significantly higher stiffness. T-Film tables use precision aluminum filler blocks instead of granite for the oil film support.
T-Film Bearing Tables (TB)

Data Physics offers four types of slip tables – each with their own performance characteristics:

Guided Oil Film Tables (GOFT), low- and high-pressure journal bearing tables, and Team T-Film bearing tables. When designing slip tables or fixtures, 3D models are produced incorporating the complete moving system to ensure that all resonances that might be excited are investigated.

Slip plates are typically made from magnesium but can also be made from aluminum depending on the required size, operating frequency, and budget. Slip tables can be supplied on monobases or on stand-alone structures for mating with any existing shaker system. The slip table assembly consists of an aluminum moat structure that the bearings/table assembly are enclosed within.

Chamber Interfaces for Combined Environment Testing

SignalForce shakers and integrated monobases are easily combined with climatic chambers for environmental stress screening applications (ESS). A range of thermal barriers is available using either phenolic type solid material or closed cell polyurethane foam types, depending on the required temperature range and the application. Chamber supports are standard for designs which require the chamber floor to be removed with the shaker. Shakers can be located below the chamber or removed for maintenance using a simple air-glide system.

Automatic load support ensures the shaker armature is always centralized when payload is added or removed. This ensures full displacement is always available, protects the suspension system from distortion and removes the need for operators to check armature position. Automatic temperature and vibration cycling re-moves the need for manual intervention during unattended testing periods.

  • Thermal barriers: Foam types, Solid types
  • Air glides
  • Automatic load support
  • Single contact control for shaker and vibration controller
  • Head expanders
  • Head extenders
  • Single axis and 3 axis systems
