Resonance Search and Dwell Vibration Control
Resonance Dwell is a convenient, repeatable way to stress a test article for low- or high- cycle fatigue testing
Cyclic stress testing using Resonance Search and Dwell is the most effective way to assess the fatigue life of a test article. Resonance Dwell uses the test article’s modeshapes to impart stress at the same locations and in the same directions that the test article would experience during its lifetime.
Control High-Q Resonances
Optimized Control Loop
Effective control of test articles with extremely high Q resonances such as turbine blades or beams
Control Sensors
Control off of any sensor – Accelerometers, lasers, displacement, or more
Long Duration Tests
Tests can run for hours, days, or weeks at a time, for low- or high- cycle fatigue
Manual Rampup
Ramp up a dwell manually to prevent overshoot
High Speed Notching
High speed notching/limiting can be applied to any channel, during the sweep or dwell
Displacement that accounts for nonlinearities
Prevent over test using a math channel (DP900-81) to compute net displacement in the time domain, and use the resulting displacement as a limit channel
Resonance Search and Dwell Features
Sine Sweep for Resonance Identification
Run a new sine sweep, or use a previously run Sine sweep for resonance identification
Scheduled Dwells
Build a Dwell Table based on the sweep data, with dwell levels and durations specified for each dwell
Automated Resonance Search
Sweep data can be exported automatically at the end of a test.
Long Duration Tests
Dwells can run for days, weeks, or longer
Critical Data Saved Throughout Test
Acceleration, Velocity, Displacement, Transmissibility, Phase, Frequency, and more versus time are saved for the duration of the dwell
Control Channel Selection
Swap control channels between the sweep and dwell with no ambiguity about which is used
Chamber or External System Interface
Command or take commands from a thermal chamber, software application, or other control system through an application interface or relay card (DP900-45)
Time Data Recording
Time data can be saved for the duration of the test (DP900-23)
1 Previous Sweep Data
Run a Sine Sweep for Resonance Identification, or load data from a Resonance Dwell or Sine test
2 Clear Channel Definitions
Clearly define the phase reference, phase response, Sweep Control, and Dwell Control channels
3 Auto Resonance Search
Search for resonances automatically by defining search parameters. Resonance Search and Dwell can be fully automated
4 Dwell Table
Build a list of dwells to dwell at different resonances sequentially, or at different levels sequentially
5 Customizable Dwells
Define Dwell Durations in time or cycles; and define the dwell level in displacement, velocity, acceleration, or with a breakpoint table.
6 Manual Ramp
Manually ramp up the test level to prevent any overshoot
